“Growing up and living in America is a freedom in itself and I dont think any one can deny that. Im not really a patriotic individual and Im aware that there are alot of fucked up things going on in this country just as there are in areas of the world that most of us see as dark. But one thing that we constantly seem to be misguided by is the grip that money seems to have on our day to day lives. All of us face that moment where we feel obligated to take up occupations and take steps to see that we are happy in the material world. We are raised to believe that the American dream is a college degree, a high paying job that secures us a two story house with a two car garage and a white picket fence in a gated communtiy with the perfect wife and perfect kids. But it’s recently become clear to me that this isnt a dream that will ever offer me true peace and happiness inside. I grew up loved by both of my parents and was spoiled compared to most my age in third world countries and even in my own neighborhood. I went to the best private schools in town all the way up until highschool. The life i was taught to want was that of which i was raised. In March of last year my family nearly lost everything. My father has worked for everything for himself and for my family ever since he was my age until his hands cracked and bled. He was taught that the life he was striving for was in fact the “good life”. He works a job i know he hates for a life that isnt promising much along the lines of true happiness and passion and the pain of that is visible every day. The cold reality is that people are living like this every day and generations after generations are being raised in a culture that guides us towards believing that tangible things are what brings us happiness. This is a song for those who want something out of life that brings happiness inside and for the long term. This is a song for the misguided.” - Tyson
